WizKid is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer who has become one of the most popular and successful artists in the African music scene. Born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun in 1990, WizKid began his career as a member of the group Glorious Five before launching his solo career in 2010 with the release of his debut single "Holla at Your Boy." Since then, he has released several critically acclaimed and commercially successful albums, including "Sounds from the Other Side" and "Made in Lagos," and has collaborated with several high-profile artists, including Drake, Skepta, and BeyoncĂ©.   In "MLLE," Wizkid wishes to repeat the musicality of 'MIL' using similar sonic templates, steady flowing melody, top production, and rich features while discussing the stress-free, wealthy, and indulgent lifestyle of a superstar. The title, "More Love, Less Ego," suggests an album that wishes to spread love and cut back on the &

Young Preacher spreads the gospel across genres

Image
Earlier this year, Blaqbonez hosted an Anti- crusade titled "Breaking the yoke of love." Early this month, Blaqbonez got the world talking with the official music video for "Back in Uni," the lead single off his Sophomore album, "Young  Preacher".  Blaqbonez is a preacher of sex over love, and on his new album " Young Preacher ," he spreads his gospel across every genre of new school music. On this album, Blaq had his hands on so many genres of music; rap, dancehall, grime, Afropop, Afrobeat, and all. Beyond that, every track on the album tells a story of his personal life, how he fights his demons, his growing up, and his sinful life as a playboy.  There are two kinds of Blaqbonez on this album; one is the Drake influenced and a more pop-oriented.  The first song on the album starts with the lyric of the trumpet and talks about how he will consistently rate sex over love, even as a preacher. Blaqbonez noted that he is having sex w

Show Dem Camp Gives A Trilogy Closer Of PalmWine Music Series With PalmWine Music vol. 3

Image
I recommended "PalmWine Express" to a friend recently, and I must say, it was and is still one of my favorites. To be honest, I haven't been following Show Dem Camp's journey right from the start. But, according to my research, I discovered the outstanding Duo (Tec and Ghost) had released about seven projects, including albums, in the past nine years. (Including Clone Wars and PalmWine music series)  The palm wine series (If you don't know) is mostly about love, heartbreak, and living a flex life. And the latest project, "PalmWine music 3," fits the narrative. In that, it's entirely produced by Spax, and it's loaded with features including Tems, M.anifest, Oxlade, Victony, Ladipoe, Tay Iwar, BOJ, and new voices like Bellah, TOBI, and more. PalmWine music series is way different from Clone war series. The lyrics and beats will reveal that to you.  The album kicks off with the voice of Nigerian OAP Folu Storms over a guitar riff by Nsik

Asake finally gives an insight into his sound with MMWTV

Image
YBNL talent Nigerian singer and songwriter, Asake finally released his highly anticipated debut album titled "Mr Money With The Vibes." The album consists of 12 solid tracks featuring Burna boy and Russ. Dull is a perfect Album opener for Asake's album. It addresses why he has been so consistent ever since he had his hit songs and got signed to the YBNL record. The opening seconds of ‘Dull’ is delivered like a panegyric or Yoruba ewi or an Ifa hymn. On the opening track, he admits that he has made it but vows to the old gods and money that he will never ‘Dull.’ The song being short makes the album sound like there is a lot for us in it.  Terminator is a single off Mr Money With The Vibes, and it talks about how Asake is a Terminator for his lady. Terminator is slightly different from the usual sound Asake uses for his songs, and it makes sense that it comes as the second good. Organise sounds like a hit single off this album. It's strictly about the street

Bayanni shines as Family man in Debut Ep.

Image
Formally known as Zhenoboy, Bayanni has gone viral as he was recently signed to the number one record label in Africa, MAVIN RECORD. An older woman's voice, with the cliche of motherly prayer, opens his newly released self named four track Ep. The "family" record examines hardship and responsibility. It's very personal and relatable to many listeners. The easy-flowing hook aids replay value. The highlife-inspired "Body" has a similar drum pattern to Wizkid and Maphorisa's "Soweto baby." It's a dance hall influenced with Cathy lyrics. The production of the song supersedes everything else. "Ta Ta Ta" is the best song on this Ep; the record is filled with sexual innuendo. His vocals beguiled the sensuality that was required to deliver those records. The type of ability to emote with vocals, as well as the ability to produce ad-libs like "ah ah ah" to mimic the euphoric breath that emerges during coitus, will ser

He goes from referencing God's goodness to setting the record straight in case anyone had forgotten that he's the best in the game.
